Outfits. Ithink the armor and the robes are made at a different time. The robes are an italian style whereas the armor was made in Syria hundreds of years earlier. It wouldn't make sense if Altair made the robes, it would almost be like if ezio had made the armour with blue jeans and a t shirt. The style wouldn't match the culture or the time period.
